Practice Ideas:
- "Keep away" games, 4 on 2, pseudo breakout/forecheck drills without calling it that (3-2)
- active passing drills (stationary with moving play in-between)
- passing "in order" drills with attackers, working hard to "get open" when its your turn

Follow James Leath on twitter, coaching philosophy/character/culture
"Character and culture beats Xs and Os every day"

Motivation:
- helmet stickers for assists and backchecks, not goals
- traveling weekly trophies:
- dig deep shovel for practice player of the week
- belt for hardest working player in game
- shield for shot blocker of the game

Goal setting:
- what are players goals as individuals
- what are players going to do to help others achieve their goals, achieve teams goals
- "the fun" is in playing the game, competing, achieving goals, and growing as a team player

Off-Ice/Downtime:
- hand/eye, just bouncing a tennis ball/racquetball off the wall
- juggling
- stretching/flexibility
- overall strength training, NOT weightlifting
- sports related video games, focusing on team concepts during game play
- street hockey & street stickhandling, focus having stick "on ice" at all times
